Distributor Rotors
Owners of early 2200 and 3300 engines should check the rotor caps in their distributors. These rotors (particularly the red ones) have shown a tendency to loosen and wear prematurely. Replace with black plastic Bosch rotors. Make sure when installing new rotors that they are fully seated in the groove in the shaft. These should be glued into position using epoxy glue but don't degrease the spindle too much or the rotor arm will become a permanent fixture! The fit is very tight and some effort will be needed to get the rotor all the way into place. A loose rotor can manifest itself as a slight misfire or a lot of noise on the radio!
