Hot News! Jabiru Calypso UL-D ready built aircraft now at Rochester Microlights

Rochester Microlights in Kent now have a UL-D available for training and conversion.  This is causing a lot of interest locally as it out performs the existing base microlight aircraft, and several GA types as well and all for less than 15 litres per hour.

NEW!! - Carby Ice Eliminator!

The guys in the white coats at our service department have come up with an electric Ice Eliminator for your Jabiru or Rotax engines.

Jabiru J400

Full CAA approval received 16th September 2004 from the CAA for the J400. This makes the J400 the first modern 4 seater aircraft to be approved under PFA jurisdiction. The J400 has had to undergo extensive compliance testing against the FAA standard FAR part 23 in order to achieve this approval. In doing so, this makes the J400 one of the world's most tested homebuilt aircraft.

Wherever it goes, the J400 commands great interest from local aviators, and it is the intention of ST to fly the demonstrator aircraft into key UK airports from its base at Shoreham in order to provide an insight of the J400's capabilities and advantages.

In a text message(!), Dan said "Testing went really well. It seems to go as well as it looks!"

Jabiru and SP

Interest in the J400 has spawned interest in other members of the Jabiru family, namely the The Jabiru Calypso and SP. These are now supplied with a new larger tail fin and winglets, together with a slightly uprated engine at 85bhp for a little extra oomph. The previously named UL has, in line with its new specification and extra speed, been given a new name, the in line with the 'UL' type model sold in the USA.

World Speed Record still held by Jabiru for Microlights!

The world speed record in 2 categories for 3 axis microlights is still held by the Jabiru UL G-ENRE, flown by Julian Harris in Kent. This is in addition to the British altitude record for 3 axis microlights. Check out the details at: www.fai.org or the story here.
